The "So Cozy" Puffer Blanket That Goes with Me Everywhere (It's So Versatile!)

After many years of enduring New York City park hangs, birthday parties, and book clubs on subpar outdoor blankets or beach towels, I knew that I needed something more heavy-duty and multi-functional. I had heard of Pretty Rugged before, thanks to our CEO and founder Maxwell Ryan, who put one of their throw blankets to the test and was so impressed. I was shocked to find out that a faux fur throw blanket could also serve as a water-resistant outdoor blanket.

That alone was enough to decide to test out Pretty Rugged’s Black Puffer Blanket and see if it could upgrade my outdoor experiences. I was drawn to the fact that the blanket was shown as both a wrap and ground covering. I share a very small one-bedroom with my boyfriend and have a strict rule that whenever a new item enters our space that something has to leave it. Luckily, Pretty Rugged made the cut.

The Pretty Rugged Black Puffer blanket is made out of RuggedTex nylon, which is designed to survive snow, rain, or shine. It’s incredibly durable and waterproof. The Puffer Blanket also has two pockets on either corner to tuck your hands inside, so your hands don’t have to freeze while you clutch the outsides of the blankets.

The blanket is machine-washable, though it should only be washed when it’s dirty, and should be washed alone and then tumble dry on low (or an air-dry setting). It comes in four different colors and can be further customized with an embroidery option, starting at $15.

I’ve been skeptical of outdoor blankets, but I was thrilled with Pretty Rugged’s. On a particularly chilly Brooklyn morning, I took the Black Puffer Blanket to a riverside park and wrapped myself up in it to see if I could comfortably sit outside for an hour. I remained warm while listening to a podcast.

The next weekend, which was much warmer, I brought the blanket along to a park picnic with some friends. The ground in the park had seen better days — instead of being grassy, it was essentially dirt. The blanket protected us from the worst of it, and the dirt just shook out. I wiped the puffer off with a damp paper towel once I got home though, just to be safe. I’m also pleased with how sophisticated and stylish it looks. It got multiple compliments from friends and a few people who passed by. I can tell that it’s one of those rare products that’ll last me for years to come.
